Professional Orginizations
American
Physical Therapy Association The mission of the American Physical
Therapy Association (APTA), the principal membership organization
representing and promoting the profession of physical therapy, is to
further the profession's role in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment
of movement dysfunctions and the enhancement of the physical health and
functional abilities of members of the public.
American
Kinesiotherapy Association The mission of the
American Kinesiotherapy Association, Inc. (AKTA)
is to promote Kinesiotherapy by improving
recognition of the profession through the pursuit of legislation and public
relations. The AKTA will serve the interest of its members and will
represent the profession to the public. The organization will work to
enhance the standard of care provided by Kinesiotherapists
through educational opportunities.
American
Academy of Physical Therapy The American Academy of Physical Therapy is
a not_for_profit organization whose mission is to
provide relief for poor and disadvantaged African Americans and other
minorities by: Promoting new and innovative programs in health promotion,
health delivery systems, and disease prevention; Encouraging minority
students to pursue careers in Allied Health Professions; Performing
clinical research directly related to health conditions found within
minority communities.
American Massage Therapy
Association The mission of the American Massage Therapy Association is
to develop and advance the art, science and practice of massage therapy in
a caring, professional and ethical manner in order to promote the health
and welfare of humanity.
American
Society of Hand Therapists Mission Statement: To advance the specialty
of hand therapy through communication, education, research and the
establishment of clinical standards.
American
Therapeutic Recreation Association The primary purposes of Recreational
Services are to provide recreation resources and opportunities in order to
improve health and well_being. Therapeutic
Recreation is provided by professionals who are trained and certified,
registered and/or licensed to provide Therapeutic Recreation.
Federation
of State Boards of Physical Therapy The mission of the Federation of
State Boards of Physical Therapy is to protect the public by providing
service and leadership that promote safe and competent physical therapy
practice.
